DESCRIPTION:The Hope Cancer Support Centre is looking forward to meeting everyone on Tuesday June 21st on Curracloe beach for what promises to be a truly wonderful evening. The evening will begin at 7.30pm with an opening ceremony. The walkers will quietly and mindfully walk along the beach. It will end with some meditation and a candlelight summer solstice Ceremony of Healing and Light. We wish to emphasise that the 21st of June is not a race or marathon but more a leisurely evening of walking in nature and slowing down to enjoy the many gifts that Curracloe beach has to offer. It is a chance to come together in a positive way for a night of healing and remembrance of all things positive in our lives. So whatever your own private intentions are\, it is an opportunity for you to touch in to those on the night.

All proceeds will go to the Hope Centre\, Cherry Ward in UHW and Wexford Hospice Homecare.\n\nGo Fund Me Page: https://www.gofundme.com/manage/WalkOnInMemoryOfDeeRonan\n\nA little more about Dee.. \n\n\nDee packed so much into her forty years and you were one of the lucky ones if you got to know her. Dee was born on the 3rd July 1980. She went to school in Ballindaggin and in the FCJ Bunclody. She loved both. Her years in secondary school weren’t without incident as she loved a bit of mischief and was prone to a bit of chatting. She made many friends and many memories. After finishing school Dee tried her hand at many careers and it was IT that she finally found her calling. She excelled in her career and since her passing we have learned just how good she was at her job.\nWhen Dee was not working she was coaching underage soccer or camogie. She loved coaching the girls and dedicated a huge amount of her time to different teams over the years. This was only after she finished her own soccer playing career which was plagued with runny noses and sore hips especially when it came to doing laps. She played in the goal for years with Ballindaggin and Bunclody and had a very unique and relaxed manner to goalkeeping.\nDee also loved travelling and over the years managed to cram in so many countries and adventures. Her favourite trip was over to her uncle and aunt in the states. But\, the trip that was the basis of many conversations was her year long trip to Australia.\nHowever\, the biggest passion of Dee’s life outside of her family\, friends and crazy hats was Liverpool F.C. Dee was a dedicated fan from early on and even up to her last weekend with us was keeping up to date on the score of the Liverpool match that weekend.\nDee got sick very quickly and did not get a chance to fight her cancer. Her last few days were spent in the Cherry Oncology Ward of the University Hospital Waterford where she was made to feel as comfortable as possible. She did not benefit from the many great services that are available to other cancer patients and their families from the Hope Centre and Wexford Hospice Homecare.\nWe still struggle to come to terms with how quickly Dee was taken from us and we miss her so much. Her passing has brought to our attention just how many people and their families are going through the same thing. We want to remember Dee and we want to help others. So please share your memories of Dee with us as we love hearing your stories and continue to share and support this fundraiser.\n\n\nYNWA

DESCRIPTION:  \nThe six session programme aims to enhance the physical and psychosocial wellbeing and quality of life for prostate cancer survivors by identifying and responding to supportive care needs\, developing healthy coping strategies and managing lifestyle changes. \nThe programme provides opportunities for participants to share their experiences and concerns\, increase their understanding of the prostate cancer experience and its consequences\, explore their attitudes towards prostate cancer and develop their skills in coping with and surviving prostate cancer. \nThe programme is facilitator-led using an adult learning approach building on the knowledge skills and experiences of the participants\, negotiating a group contract around programme topics\, group discussion and inputs.  It is only open to men who have had a diagnosis of prostate cancer. \nPlease contact the Hope Centre on 053 9238555 to book a place.

DESCRIPTION:  \nRegister here at www.hopeanddream10.com\nHope and Dream 10 will take place on Sunday April 3rd 2022 in aid of the Hope Cancer Support Centre CLG. We we look forward to your participation and support. \nSimilar to last year\, 100% of the proceeds will again go to supporting our services for clients. These include counselling\, reflexology\, massage\, MLD\, bra and prosthesis fitting along with all our support groups. We are currently beginning the process for redeveloping the Centre and incorporating the new premises into the old. It is important to note that a completely separate funding stream will be utilised to fund the development and no Hope and Dream 10 proceeds will be used for this development. \nThe last 2 years have been a huge challenge due to the Covid 19 pandemic. We are aware that some people have expressed a wish to participate in a virtual event. Therefore we are delighted to offer this choice this year along with the option of 10 km and 10 mile. This does however create an additional administrative challenge and we would ask that you please read the FAQs at https://www.hopeanddream10.com/faqs/before you register for the event. \nHope and Dream 10 continues to be a major event in the South East. The money raised over the past 10 years has made a huge difference to the quality of life for hundreds of people across County Wexford. We hope that each participant will raise as much money as possible for the Hope Cancer Support Centre. \nSo please\, do the best you can…if we do nothing….nothing will happen. \n

DESCRIPTION:Date: 10th of March\, 2022 \nTime: 7.30 – 8.30pm \nThe North Dublin Bereavement Network are hosting a free online Bereavement Information evening this March. This event is for people bereaved through any circumstance – through illness or sudden death; and may have lost a partner\, parent\, child\, friend\, sibling\, work colleague or relative. The event will provide information about grief and the range of bereavement supports available in the local area. \nOur professional speaker\, Niamh Finucane (Coordinator of Social Work & Bereavement Service\, St Francis Hospice Dublin) will talk about the process of grief and the ways we can support each other. This year’s event will also focus on coping with significant events and anniversaries after the death of someone close. \nOur guest\, Niamh Fitzpatrick will host our Q&A panel. Niamh\, an author and a psychologist\, experienced the sudden death of her sister\, Capt. DESCRIPTION:Community Law & Mediation (CLM) is a community law centre\, which provides free legal advice\, advocacy and mediation services. \nIn partnership with the Irish Cancer Society\, CLM is running a monthly\, free legal advice clinic specialising in social welfare rights and appeals\, including overpayments. \nFree legal advice is available relating to: \n  \n\nCarer’s Supports\nIllness/Disability Supports\nAll other social welfare payments\nMedical Card Application Appeals Rejections\n\n  \nThe next free legal advice clinic will take place on 17th February and each third Thursday of the following month unless it conflicts with a holiday. We will notify in advance each month. \n  \nPeople who would like to learn more about the service should get in touch with the Irish Cancer Society Support Line on 1800 200 700 or email poruairc@irishcancer.ie by 14th February at the latest. Please note that appointments are limited and therefore not guaranteed additionally the Society must review the applicant to ensure they are suitable for referral to CLM under this scheme. Due to COVID-19 restrictions\, legal advice clinic appointments will take place by phone.

DESCRIPTION:When Cancer treatment ends the transition to a “new normal” can be hard. With this in mind the Hope Centre are running a “Survive & Thrive Programme” via zoom. \nThis programme is best suited to those who have completed their cancer treatment. You will need good internet access and a laptop or tablet to participate.\nPlease let us know if you are interested in participating by contacting the Hope Centre on 053 9238555 or e mail: info@hopesupportcentre.ie \nA Self-Management Programme developed by Stanford University \nThe Cancer Survive & Thrive Programme offers you a sense of confidence and an opportunity to develop self-management skills when moving on from your cancer treatment. \nParticipants play an active role in the sessions\, and learn skills to help deal with issues such as managing frustration\, fatigue and pain; setting priorities; making decisions and getting better sleep. \nDue to the Covid-19 pandemic\, we are offering this programme online through Zoom.\nThe normal programme is 6 sessions of approx. 2.5hrs. There is an extra session at the start of the online programme that lasts around 40mins.
